mIRC configuration for RTSnet BNC


Step 1 - Request a BNC

The first thing you have to do to get a BNC from RTSnet is to join #request and type !requestbnc <ident>. The ident is your username and may only contain letters and numbers.

Please wait patiently in the channel until your request has been processed. Upon completion you will get a message from BNC with your account details, now lets configure your client.

 

Step 2 - Configure your client

As mIRC is by far the most popular IRC client, this guide will show you how to configure this client to connect to your newly requested BNC

Open mIRC options by pressing tools > options (or press alt + o) and click on the Connect tab

Now fill in the required information listed below:

Fullname: your ident
Email: your ident + @
Nickname: your nickname
Alternativ: alternative nickname

 

Select the Servers tab and click the add button

Now fill in the required information listed below:

Description: RTSnet BNC
IRC Server: bnc.users.rtsnet.org
Port(s): 7000
Group: RTSnet
Password: enter the password provided when you requested a BNC

 

Click on the identd tab

ident

Now do the following:

Enable identd server: checked
User ID: your ident
Use ID from email address: checked
